Boss watches went online with the Collectors forum
Today the company continues to hold strong with innovative watches and remarkable services. In 2001, Boss watches went online with the Collectors forum. This was the first brand-related forum for fans of fine watchmaking. Sadly, the company also saw the death of Gunter Blumlein in 2001, who was the man that led Boss out of the Swiss watchmaking crisis of the 1970's. Despite this, the company has never been stronger and continues its excellence in crafting watches through an incredible team.
Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute Watch
Someone recently asked me a question about watches with 24 hour dials. That is, watches that display time in the 24 hour format versus the 12 hour format that we are mostly used to here in the US. Many digital watches do this with ease (switch back and forth), but 24 hour analog dial watches are much less common. In the US, 24 hour time is often referred to as military time. If you are in the military you need to know it, otherwise you can be more or less ignorant of what 17:00 is. I guess it is about reducing confusion about when to be places and getting rid of saying "AM or PM." When
Ikepod KAWS Watch
Watch brand Ikepod has teamed up with New York City-based artist KAWS for a special edition high-end watch. Based on the Ikepod Horizon designed by Marc Newson, the Ikepod Horizon KAWS was designed to integrate the well-known pop artist's signature aesthetic. KAWS' real name is Brian Donnelly, and is best known for his cartoonish art and toys. Highly successful, this project?projects KAWS into the world of high-end watches. The Ikepod KAWS watch dial takes the artist's signature cross design that he uses for eyes (and often on hands). Montblanc Villeret Tourbillon Bi-Cylindrique Watch
Powerfully interesting, this new flagship watch for Montblanc's Villeret arm builds on the Tourbillon Mysterious of a few years ago. The "mystery" gives way to an open dial, and the tourbillon has double cylindrical balance springs in the tourbillon. Hence the name "Montblanc Villeret Tourbillon Bi-Cylindrique." The large tourbillon makes viewing the "double heart beat" more interesting. Why the two springs? As a means of reducing error in the regulation and thus attempting to boost accuracy. All that and it looks pretty nice.Read my full article on the Montblanc Tourbillon Bi-Cylindr
Talking With Patek Philippe President At Their New LA Boutique
Los Angeles is the first US city with a dedicated Patek Philippe brand boutique store (previously discussed here), and I got a chance to check it out recently. I have to say, the ambiance there is really lovely. While there I had a rare opportunity to interview Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern. I discussed the unique?interview in more detail in an article on Forbes (that I recommend you read here). In addition to sharing that article, you can check out some images of the boutique and the interview video below.#gallery-1
