Panerai Introduces Entry-Level Luminor 8 Days Watches with P.5000 Movement
Ever since the release of last year?¡¥s Luminor Marina 8 Days (PAM 510) with the new in-house P.5000 movement, there has been talk of Panerai discontinuing its entry-level Luminor models. The PAM 510 is a doppelganger of the PAM 111, with the exception of the words ?¡ã8 Days?¡À on the dial and the movement underneath, the two watches are practically identical. At this point, it is worth talking a bit about this new P. 5000 movement, which only debuted last year. First and foremost, this is a hand-wound movement that is comprised of 127 components and beats at 3Hz or 21,600bph. The mov
Porsche Design Group Ends Watch Production Relationship With Eterna
Interesting news today as Porsche Design and Eterna have announced that they have terminated their watch making relationship. For years Porsche Design (designed) watches were produced by the Swiss watch maker Eterna, located in Grenchen, Switzerland. As of March 10th, 2014, the two companies have announced the termination of their license agreement to develop, produce, and sell Porsche Design branded timepieces.Sadly, I did see this coming. Porsche Design has aligned itself with some interesting watch companies over the years including, most notably, IWC. Their run with Eterna helped

Now, after seeing the final pieces, a find a few small changes have been made to the current versions. Most notable in my opinion is the lugs. They were

IWC Big Pilot Limited Edition Perpetual Calendar Watch
Big Pilot + Perpetual Calendar watch? Yes please! I personally think it is great. IWC did a good job with this orange and black beauty. But a limited edition only? Well, maybe we will see more of them in the future. Actually we have seen a lot of IWC watches in limited edition skin lately, and I won't complain when it is in Big Pilot form. Price isn't horrible given the movement at $28,000.See my IWC Big Pilot Limited Edition Perpetual Calendar watch article at Haute Living here.
