Can You Over-Wind A Mechanical Watch? - Ask Watch Experts Questions About Watches
Zen L. from Bangkok, Thailand asks: Can I overwind my manual watch? I recently got my first manually wound watch, despite generally preferring automatic. I have heard that although automatic watches have a way of protecting against overwinding, a manual watch can actually be damaged. Is this true? Or does this differ from movement to movement? There is also no power reserve indicator, so what can I do to make sure I don’t damage my watch, but keep it telling good time? Thanks!Of course, there is no single answer that will apply to all mechanical movements as there are so many differen
Nixon Diplomat Watch Review
Nixon isn't a brand that I've had too much exposure to in the past. However, once I saw that they had a model featuring a Horween leather strap, I knew this was definitely a model that I needed to check out. Of course it didn't hurt that the piece also featured a GMT function, which is one of my favorite complications. I have to say though that the first thing that grabbed me about this watch wasn't so much the specs, or the strap material - it was the name.At least here in the states, the Nixon name (when it comes to politics, not watches) is about as opposite from a diplomat as you

Aside from the passable looks, the real press release filler for the watch is it's eco-friendly features. Also, if the watch is Swedish, why does it say "Made in Germany" on it? Swedish design. Swiss movement, Germany manufac

TimeCrafters Watch Event in New York City September 14-15
Fledgling US-based watch event TimeCrafters is back for its second year. The event is trying hard to be the reference American high-end watch show to compliment SIHH and Baselworld in Geneva and Basel, Switzerland. Many famous high-end brands from the Swatch Group, Richmont, LVMH, and more will be there to show off their 2012 creations. I would have been there this year but other travel plans got in the way.The good news is that TimeCrafters is open to the public for the reasonable admission price of $20 at the door or FREE if you register online via their website. It is a good oppor
