Van Cleef & Arpels Cerfs-Volants Kites Watches
French is a funny language, and I'll admit that even when translated into English I often have trouble understanding it. That's because so much of French is about "in-speak," or otherwise a set of agreed upon meanings to otherwise untranslatable cultural terms. I first began to encounter this while spending a lot of time in France and Switzerland trying to decipher menus at restaurants. There seemed to be a local meaning to terms, so that when translated into English they still didn't make sense. As a non-French speaker I find that the term "cerfs-volants" which means kites to be a shi
Breva Genie 02 Air Black Watch
Earlier in 2014 we showed you the newest creation by Breva, their Genie 02 Altimeter watch with a hands-on look. It followed up the Genie 01 watches from 2013 that included a barometer. For Baselworld 2014, Breva is adding an additional version of the Genie 02 with the Genie 02 Air produced in a titanium case that has been coated in black and bears slightly different dial and calibration. The Genie 02 is a rather complicated watch given the fact that it has a mechanical altimeter in it. When Breva originally released the Genie 02 they tried to pen it as a watch for use on high mountain
Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Watch Review
As I wear this watch a smile comes to my face. I smirk knowing that this watch is not something that would have been designed today. This sport version of the iconic Grande Seconde watch by Jaquet Droz is a curious item that has a lot of merit but isn't something I ever saw coming from the brand. I first wrote about it back in 2008 when it was still called the Jaquet Droz SUW (yes, "Sport Utility Watch"). Today, the name has been "clarified" a bit, and I am glad to see that it still has a happy home in the house of Jaquet Droz.It is very difficult to describe what this watch is all ab
Doxa Ch??¨¦teau des Monts Limited Edition Watch Review On AskMen
This was an interesting Doxa. Mainly because it was different than their diving watch line - which is at least all I know Doxa for in the modern sense. I've heard people complain about how Doxa watches are overpriced. That might be so, but they have been around for a while, and they made decent watches. While the SUB series is certainly retro in flavor, this limited edition Chateau des Monts is even MORE retro. My Baselworld Top 5 Watches Article On AskMen
This was a tough article to write. I was asked to come up with five top watches from Baselworld 2010. You don't realize that walking around there for over a week you see thousands of watches. Well, here on AskMen is my list of five. Please realize that I did not intend this to be a competition, each of these watches is the top five, in no particular order. You can see that I choose watches that have good, restrained design, and that should be commercially a success. Baselworld 2010 was not about crazy expensive watches, but good solid designs that people will actually want to buy.
