Explaining What Watch Water Resistance Ratings Mean - Ask Watch Experts Questions About Watches
Jeremy C. from Singapore asks:I love my dive watches, for the looks as much as the perceived toughness, and water resistance. Now, I hardly even go near a swimming pool but that's not the point. One thing that irks me to no end, however, is that there seems to be no consensus on what water resistance ratings mean.10 meters mean that I can't shower with it?!? 200 meters but not ISO-certified means that it shouldn't be used for diving? 1500 meters without a helium escape valve, and no special gaskets or case design? How is that possible? What does it all even mean?!?! Please enlighten me. Tha
Cartier Calibre Chronograph Watch
In 2010 Cartier released a brand new collection of men's watches called the Calibre. It was rather revolutionary for the brand for a couple of reasons, bringing Cartier's men's collection into the 21st Century. It was also a mass produced watch that contained an in-house made Cartier movement - something that previously only existed in their most high-end pieces.I knew the Calibre would be a hit from the start when I first discussed it here. I pointed out 4-5 years ago that online sales for luxury giants direct to consumers would be inevitable. Each few months more and more brands set up shop online with their own direct-to-consumer e-boutiques. Most people win, but arguably hurt are traditional brick-and-mortar independent retailers who will los
Orient M-Force SEL03001D Diver Watch Review
One of my favorite divers in my collection is an Orient CFD0C001B Saturation Diver. I reviewed it here. While it has quirks, the big beefy diver has a great look with a useful dial and a fantastically adjustable bracelet. I still love wearing it today. As far as I know it is one of Orient's most expensive watches and certainly at the top of their diver collection. This M-Force Diver model is more modern, but considered a mid-range model between the more pricey Saturation Diver and Orient's lower-end offerings. It is further accompanied by a similar watch called the Orient Revolver dive
