Wempe Glashutte Zeitmeister Sport Watches
Wempe Glashutte Sport Watches - black dialsMost of our readers have probably not heard of the German brand Wempe. A jeweler since 1878 and primarily known as a watch retailer, they added their own watch brand in 2006, under the Zeitmeister line. Nice watches, but little known, especially in the US. They do have a major store in New York City though. This year, after four years of work, they are adding a full line of sport watches, and I like how they look.Models include a three-hand and chronograph in the Wempe Zeitmeister Sport Herren Automatic and the Zeitmeister Sport Chronograph,
Eterna Royal KonTiki Two Time Zones Watch
The Royal KonTiki Two Time Zones by Eterna is a handsome watch, but watch industry pundits will no doubt consider the bigger story being the first appearance of the new Calibre 39 in a production watch. It couldn't have happened soon enough. When the Calibre 39 was announced this year, its appearance seemed to embody that well known saying ascribed to Plato that "Necessity is the mother of invention." Since ETA owner, the Swatch Group, announced their intention to limit the supply of ETA movements to competing companies, the scramble had begun to find an alternative supplier.Af
MB&F HM2 Black & Red SV Final Edition Watches
The MB&F Horological Machine Number 2 has enjoyed a really rich life. The 'wrist rectangle' is now going into its final limited edition production with two new models. These are the HM2 Black SV and Red SV. "SV" stands for Sapphire Vision, and are related to the original HM2 Sapphire Vision watch that I discussed here - and had a real-life image of here. The whole point of the Sapphire Vision watch was the massive sapphire crystal that made up the front plate of the piece. The crystals were ungodly expensive to make and a tortuous trial in patience as many would break in the manufa
Frederique Constant Maxime Manufacture Watches
Back in 2009 I wrote about the in-house FC-700 automatic movement by Frederique Constant, as well as the Maxime Manufacture watch that it came in. Since then Frederique Constant released the Maxime Manufacture watch (in steel at 42mm wide), and the Maxime Manufacture Lady (in various materials at 39mm wide). Here you see images of them both. For under $3,000 (about $4,500 even for fancy versions with diamonds), this is a really nice deal for a manufacture movement.I admire the decoration on the movement and the rotor for the price, and that the brand takes the movement seriousl
Skagen's Flagship Swiss Movement Men's Watch Line For 2009
I was curious as to what Skagen considered to be their flagship watch, so I asked them. The Danish brand has seemingly always been around in the watch world. Brands tend to have iconic looks and technologies that are imbued into flagship products that communicate the brand. Skagen's entire watch product line has a few common themes. These include use of minimalist design, titanium as often as possible, thin case profiles, function forward attitudes, Swiss movements, and reasonable prices. For 2009, Skagen replied that the watch that communicates all these notions are the men's 585XLTMX
