F.P. Journe is really pushing aluminum as its sport watch material of course. I've written in the past about not understanding why they would choose aluminum, which is a soft and easily dented metal for a super high-end luxury watch. It is very light, and I guess they like the quirk. Titanium has really usurped most aluminum use, but I think aluminum is still technically a bit lighter (just not stronger). The watch is just 53 grams in weight. According to F.P. Journe they used "high technology aluminum" (which is apparently the same used in Aeronautics).So like fragile race cars F.P.

You know that I have been economically deluded by the watch world when I hear that a watch costs around $35,000, only to think, "that sounds like a really good price." Not that I can afford it, I just wouldn't expect an 18k rose gold-cased Audemars Piguet watch with an in house chronograph movement to go for that "low" of a price. I must have luxo-fever. But for $35,000 you can't go too wrong with this beautiful chronograph version of Audemars Piguet's lovely Millenary watch. The sorta asymmetric is not off-centered as it might appear. Two oblong circles overlap to create that interest

This is a more "simple" Jaquet Droz watch with an annual calendar and a quirky moon phase indicator. Called the "Eclipse," it comes in a 18k gold case and a nice black enamel dial. Nice? Sure. Super Jaquet Droz in character? Not really. Where is the "figure 8" dial we like so much? Once the brand gets new leadership, we will see where the core design sits after the dust settles.
