Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement Watch
"Constant Escapement" sounds like the marketing slogan for an all-inclusive vacation resort somewhere. "What you truly seek is constant escapement..." It is true, like other hobbies in life, high-end watches are a constant distraction, and offer some nice escape when wound properly. What?Girard-Perregaux?actually means is "constant force escapement" - which is really what this new high-end technically-astute timepiece is all about. In this watch are clues to the future of the brand as well as insight as to what Switzerland's top watch makers are currently working on. The Constant Escap
Clerc Hydroscaph Limited Edition Chronograph Watches
This year sees three versions of the Clerc Hydroscaph Limited Edition Chronograph watch. This unique piece is attractive as well as functional. Clerc uses a special movement that offers a full 12 hour chronograph with just two subdials. Rather than have two hands in one of the subdials, the main dial is used to measure both the chronograph seconds and the minutes. Wearing them I find the pieces to be extremely cool probably one of Clerc's best creations thus far.The Calibre C608 automatic movement is exclusively made for Clerc. I find the layout of it very enticing as it
Casio Dee & Ricky G-Shock GA110DR-1A Watch
When I first learned about this new Dee & Ricky limited edition G-Shock watches, I was like WTF?! Not that I would wear it, but I can appreciate the culture that created it. The watch design really started in the 1980s, though the designs may not be aware of that. It was the time of Lego and bright colors, and when wearing wild hues was fashionable until the mid 1990s (when thankfully florescent colors went out). The lineage of the style also is related to 8 bit gaming. Nintendo brought bright colors before our eyes on a daily basis in blocky glory. This watch is the summation of
Erwin Sattler Mixes Old & New Perfectly With The Trilogie Watch, Clock, & Winder Combo
Here is a piece of innovative watch technology and integration from a brand you probably haven't heard of. That is OK, because Erwin Sattler does not tend to make wrist watches. As a segue into dabbling in this market, they built a steampunk looking device that is very beautiful and functional combining a watch, watch winder, and clock. All in an expensive looking (and costing) crystal and leather case (the crystal case can be lifted electronically). The various elements of the Trilogie set can be traced to Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.Lets start with the watch itself. Usin
Talking With Patek Philippe President At Their New LA Boutique
Los Angeles is the first US city with a dedicated Patek Philippe brand boutique store (previously discussed here), and I got a chance to check it out recently. I have to say, the ambiance there is really lovely. While there I had a rare opportunity to interview Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern. I discussed the unique?interview in more detail in an article on Forbes (that I recommend you read here). In addition to sharing that article, you can check out some images of the boutique and the interview video below.#gallery-1
