Cartier Tank Anglaise Watch
I attended a rather interesting dinner with Cartier where a several minute long discussion on the origin of the "Tank" name took place. "Tank" is a name applied to many Cartier watches, but records show that no one is quite sure where the name came from. Most people agree it actually does refer to military tanks. It is an amusing reality that mechanized warfare lent a name to genteel luxury watch making. How is the Tank watch like a tank (doesn't that sound like something Lewis Carroll would write)? Hard to say for sure. Some say that the shape of the watch was said to look like a tank
A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Watch
One theme I noticed at SIHH 2012 was a bit of a return to more classy connoisseur-driven high end watches. Brands like A. Lange & Sohne and Greubel Forsey released tourbillon based watches with tourbillons not visible from the dials. For Lange it is this highly useful and complicated creation that pulls at the heart strings of seasoned watch lovers and novices alike. The watch is the A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar watch. It is actually one of three new Lange 1 timepieces for 2012 from the famous German brand. The watch is not only subtle in its use of a
Wenger Nomad LED Compass Watch
Wenger showed me this pretty interesting gadget style watch that has an analog display, and a "stealth" LED display in the dial. It is their Nomad LED Compass watch, and has some interesting appeal. The basic watch without using the function is easy to read thanks to the large Arabic numerals and hands - both lume covered. The text around the dial might look a bit excessive, but makes it easy to understand what the watch does.? In addition to the time, it has a basic calendar display and a compass.I believe that by pressing the "time" pusher it will show you the time via LED nu
Hublot F1 King Power Suzuka Watch
Since the Hublot F1 King Power as a watch is not new I will not going into detail about the technicalities. This is a new limited edition of 250 pieces (like all of them) for Japan's Suzuka race track released recently at 2011 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix. It has a cool skeletonized dial and ceramic disc brake-style bezel. The case is 48mm wide in zirconium (a lot like titanium). The neatest part are the predominantly white and red colors meant as an homage to the Japanese rising sun flag. See more articles about: Chronograph WatchesF1Formula 1King PowerWatch BrandsHublot
