Porsche Design began a retro-updating as more than other brands last year that they get near a great brand anniversary next year. On the one hand, I could dismiss all that they do with retro-Renaissance as fair play with "follow the leader", but is not quite the case of Porsche Design. Everything that Porsche Design is any first abandoning their line of thinking more contemporary, future watch. Second, Porsche Design offer reruns of classic designs do step to relive the past, but to do things well. Book Review: Masters Of Contemporary Watch Making
I don't read a lot of books on watches. There sure are enough of them out there. Large, pretty coffee table books designed to be skimmed through while sitting in a large easy chair listening listening to background jazz and perhaps enjoying a scotch. These luxo-tomes are meant for high-end collectors, and priced as such. That doesn't mean they are well written. Most of them list facts, but the best of them are actually worth a read. This is one of them. It also helps that it looks nice and have gorgeously printed images. Images that put even the best computer images to shame. I kid you
Burberry Aviator Watch
I see one advantage to this watch really. You get that look of a classic aviator with the Burberry name - if that tickles you the right way. Burberry is a pretty good brand that sorta went over-the-top like Louis Vuitton. Not sure when it was, but at some point Louis Vuitton just went nuts with the "monogram" showing up on everything from change purses and shoes, to probably shower caps. This was a tough article to write. I was asked to come up with five top watches from Baselworld 2010. You don't realize that walking around there for over a week you see thousands of watches. Well, here on AskMen is my list of five. Please realize that I did not intend this to be a competition, each of these watches is the top five, in no particular order. You can see that I choose watches that have good, restrained design, and that should be commercially a success. Baselworld 2010 was not about crazy expensive watches, but good solid designs that people will actually want to buy.
