Frederique Constant Manufacture Slimline Moonphase Watch Review
This isn't going to be a typical aBlogtoWatch review, because this is a watch I made myself. Given that little fact, and some added personalization, I have special feelings toward this Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase watch. So, what I will do in this review is discuss the timepiece itself and then some of the qualities that make it different from what you can buy. That more or less means you aren't going to be able to?make one yourself, unless you are really, really lucky. In the late Spring of 2013, I traveled with an aBlogtoWatch audience member to Frederique Constant in Genev
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporaine Calibre 1731 Minute Repeater Watch Breaks New Records
It would not be inappropriate for you to engage in a slow, polite clap to congratulate Vacheron Constantin on the release of their new record setting watch that now holds the title as the world's thinnest minute repeater. Slim and actually quite sexy, the Patrimony Contemporaine Calibre 1731 Minute Repeater was unveiled at the new Watches & Wonders watch show in Hong Kong. Asia has had a range of watch events in the past, but the Watches & Wonders show is a new, experimental event that brands are testing in terms of releasing new mid to late-year product releases before SIHH. Breitling SuperOcean Heritage Chrono 46 Watch Review
Before I review the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage Chrono 46 I'd like to discuss my own personal history with aviation and the brand. When I received my pilot's license many, many years ago, I invested in a couple of aircraft. In each of these airplanes was a box called an ELT or Emergency Locator Transmitter. This box was designed to detect a crash and send out a signal to SARsats orbiting the earth so that search and rescue teams could react.?The ELT was about the size of a long battery and weighed about as much. It was, in a sense, mostly a battery with some electronics and an antenn
Roger Dubuis Excalibur Table Ronde Watch Fulfills Your Arthurian Dreams
It was only a matter of time before the Roger Dubuis Excalibur watch connected itself a bit more with Arthurian legend. For 2013, the high-end Swiss watch brand and movement manufacture will produce a limited edition version of the Excalibur watch called the "Table Ronde." Somehow I feel that given the super Britishness of the concept, they would have forgone the French name and simply called it "The Round Table." As completely silly as this watch is, I still get a kick out of the concept. Like I said, I have been waiting for a more medieval version of the Excalibur for a while and thi
Book Review: Masters Of Contemporary Watch Making
I don't read a lot of books on watches. There sure are enough of them out there. Large, pretty coffee table books designed to be skimmed through while sitting in a large easy chair listening listening to background jazz and perhaps enjoying a scotch. These luxo-tomes are meant for high-end collectors, and priced as such. That doesn't mean they are well written. Most of them list facts, but the best of them are actually worth a read. This is one of them. It also helps that it looks nice and have gorgeously printed images. Images that put even the best computer images to shame. I kid you
