Longio Zhuke Bronze Watch Review
I am sitting here with my Longio?Zhuke watch a few months after getting it, examining the patina on the case. A modern looking dive watch, rather than being in a typical steel case, the Zhuke comes in bronze. The odd material became popular over the last few years for unknown reasons. I think it has something to do with how the case ages quickly, making it look vintage, and how the color fits somewhere between steel and gold. Bronze is not an ideal material for cases as it begins to oxidize quickly. Sure you can polish it, but most people who own bronze watches seem to love how each of
Christophe Claret Soprano Watch
For my money,?Christophe Claret is the guy I would hire to run a movement design department of a watch company. In fact, for much of his career in watches, that was what he was doing. What I like about Christophe, and even more so respect, is that he "gets" what mechanical watchmaking really is in today's world. Some watchmakers present themselves as religious zealots - keeping the faith alive by preserving the honor and tradition of traditional watchmaking. Claret has advanced beyond that. Ernst Benz is like an estranged cousin of Panerai with little bloodline connection. It makes a heap of really large watches with "instrumental" appeal, but unlike Panerai, the watches typically suffer from being appropriate without being very unique. Oh, and they are overpriced, in my opinion. The newest from Ernst Benz is the new ChronoDiver collection, with a name as dry as the watch themselves. There is actually nothing at all wrong with the watches. They are a pretty good emulation of a theme. That theme being the diving watch chronograph. The thing is, for the over $5,000 retail pr
HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 93 - The Appendix of the Watch World
John goes out of his way to embarrass Ariel - he needs a girlfriend from the Ukraine. More on SIHH - we talk about Richard Mille RM 056 Sapphire crystal-cased watch (1,000 hours to machine each case) how much it costs, and how a slew of virgins must somehow be involved in that kind of pricing. More from the show and the completely unnecessary pain and loneliness that the watch industry and conventions in Switzerland can inflict. We also talk about more reasonable watches like new stuff from Hamilton (a slide-rule complication that's useful - John disagrees) - X-Patrol!New version of t
