Maurice de Mauriac L1 Watch Designed By Fabian Schwaerzler
Zurich-based watch maker Maurice de Mauriac has just released the new L1 watch designed by the acclaimed (and award-winning) Swiss industrial designer Fabian Schwaerzler. The result is an attractively modern Bauhaus style watch that combines Swiss style with Germanic functionalism - which makes sense given that Zurich is in the German-speaking part of the country. In the future we will investigate what the relationship between Maurice de Mauriac and Fabian Schwaerzler is all about and how they hooked up. Japanese Miyota Targets Swiss ETA With Caliber 9000 Series Watch Movements
For about 10 years ETA has been threatening to stop supplying third-party (outside the Swatch Group) watch brands with movement kits. The horological drama has been high, with the Swiss government weighing in several times, and ETA seemingly going back and forth with what they are going to do. Now Writing For and Luxist
I have officially expanded my watch writing horizons. You'll now find me writing both and on Luxist (a luxury items and lifestyle blog that is part of the Weblogs network). My position there is as the watch expert, and you'll find articles there on real estate, cars, art, fine living, and anything else part of a luxurious lifestyle. Part of this new opportunity is a dream come true as I've always admired the blogs that are part of the Weblogs network. Aside from Luxist, my favorites are Engadget, Joystiq, and Autoblog. You should check them all out.
HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 132 - Yes, a Teenage Grandpa Tutor
Apparently this is the show about shameless self promotion. At least according to John. First I plug the limited edition straps I had Teenage Grandpa made for aBlogtoWatch readers (which a few more of you should buy before they run out). Then we talk about the YES watch you can win this month by entering here on aBlogtoWatch. After that we talk about a see-through Cartier watch and Tudor coming back to the US. Just before we stop, for kicks we laugh about the terrible looking (and named) U-Boat Unicum (a picture of which is below for laughs).Listen to the HourTime Show watch po
