Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Black Watch
This is one of the most military-looking Ball watches in quite some time. It is also a new DLC-coated piece, something that Ball doesn't release all that often. Say hello to the Engineer Hydrocarbon Black. While I like this piece a lot, it is more a conceptual remix of other Ball watches versus something totally new. New for 2013, the Engineer Hydrocarbon Black is really a sister product to the new Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster - which itself is based on the Engineer Ceramic XV. Each of these watches share the same case, but there are dial and other differences.Unlike the more
Tag Heuer Aquaracer 500M Automatic Chronograph Watch
We all knew it was coming. First there was the new Aquaracer (called the Aquaracer 500M because it didn't actually totally replace the more basic Aquaracer) and now there is the chronograph version. It looks pretty rad actually. Feeling very similar to a dive version of the new Carrera, this watch has a similar layout, but not the 1887 automatic chronograph. The Aquaracer 500M Automatic Chronograph has a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 that they refer to as the Calibre 16 movement. The layout of the chronograph on the dial does not really take away from legibility, and at the same time does not
Bell & Ross Vintage BR 123 & 126 Heritage Watches
If I could go back and add an additional watch to my Top 5 watches at Baselworld 2010, it would be this new collection from Bell & Ross. Last year, one of their hottest models was the BR01-92 Instrument Heritage (that I wrote about here). It had a new (old) type of vintage aircraft cockpit dial design and a tan leather strap that looked like it was made out of baseball glove leather. People loves the pieces, and it finalized Bell & Ross's trifecta of aircraft instrument themed watches (though there will be more I am sure). While not the subject of this article entirely, I have
RSW Diving Tool Watches: Toolicious
How cool is this new Diving Tool watch from Rama Swiss Watch (RSW)? The wildly functional yet avant garde "instrument" watch seems totally plausible to wear, yet nothing else like it exists. The case is mostly square, with an functional, but cool, looking round rotating bezel over the dial. I like to totally horizontal orientation of the crowns and pushers as well - nice design cue. The first few seconds of looking at the watch you'll be a bit distracted by the novel look. Then you'll appreciate just how usable the watch is. Really nothing that crazy about the design in terms o
Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2012: We'll Be There
One of the most interesting watch fairs in the world is the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair?(put on by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council). Celebrating its 31st year, the 2012 fair will run from September 5 - 9 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre. This year will be there, checking out the "world's biggest timepiece event." Is it bigger than BaselWorld? I will let you know. BaselWorld is rather massive and I've never actually been able to see it all. I am calling for recruits to help me divvy up next year's event. Serious horological explorers can contact me.Hong K
