Bexei Watches: Some Of The Finest In The World & Made In Hungary
Aaron Becsei of Bexei watches is a fellow Hungarian and the only watchmaker in this tiny Central-European country who builds watches from scratch to finish. That already puts him in a rather unique position, but what makes him and his work really interesting from our point of view is that he actually makes some of the finest high-end watches, crafted to a level of quality that is on par with any large manufacture or famed independent. And if you think my patriotism is taking over my ability to judge in a non-partial way, then I urge you to read on, as we find out how one man can make s
Kentex Marineman Sapphire Ceramic Watch
You may have not have heard of?Kentex watches. If you haven't, don't blame any lack of your paying attention to watch brands. The Japanese company is rare in the Western world, and probably not exactly common in the East either. What you should know is that for the most part their watches offer excellent value for the money, with an impressive level of not only quality but features. Let's look at the new for 2013 version of the Kentex Marineman.I ran into Kentex originally at the 2012 Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair when I first attended the show. I only spent a few minutes with them
Glashutte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar Watch
Another Glashutte Original watch that I was more than happy to play with this year was the new version of the Senator Perpetual Calendar watch. The movement inside the watch nor the name of this timepiece is new - but the new piece is a real gem. For 2011 the size of the watch as well as the design have been tweaked. For some reason GO didn't actually make the width easy to find, but as you can see on my wrist it is larger than some of its predecessors that were about 40mm wide. At least I think so or this would be a real trick on the eyes type of timepiece. The Glashutte
Alpina Startimer Classic Automatic Chrono Watch Has Very Sad Hands
WTF Alpina? Seriously, is this a joke? Does this watch suffer from hereditary dwarfism? Can you even call a 44mm wide watch a dwarf? Oh, I am sorry, I meant "little watch." No, the watch is the right size, but the hands, those sad pathetic looking hands, are shrunken at the least. Look at them looking all sad? Even the chronograph subdial hands feel bigger.I have no clue what Alpina was thinking when their designer approved the hands on this Startimer Classic Automatic Chronograph watch. More like TinyTimer. This is exactly the type of crap that pisses me off. This watch makes
Jack Shephard's Porsche Design Watch On Lost
Regular readers of mine know that I get a kick out of spotting watches in TV shows and movies. A regular viewer of Lost, I have always been curious to know what watch was being worn by Matthew Fox's character Jack Shephard. Of course, while on the island he does not wear a watch, but back in civilization in Los Angeles, he is always seen the watch watch. The show producers are loathe to give the watch much camera time. In fact, the only watch that was given attention was the Rolex Daytona that Jin was carrying as a business gift in season 1. But I digress. A few episodes ago (in the fi
