Swatch Random Ghost SUOK111 Watch Has 15,120 Possible Dials
Timepieces like the Random Ghost (ref. SUOK111) are examples of how Swatch made inexpensive timepieces cool in the 1980s, and how Swatch's artistic way of approaching wristwatches is still extremely relevant today. The Random Ghost is in the New Gent collection and is a totally transparent watch with a colorful, exposed quartz movement. The reason Swatch calls it the "Random Ghost" is because the pieces of the movement are colored and chosen at random when the watch is produced resulting in 15,120 possible color combinations. This effectively means that you'll be hard pressed to find t
Ulysse Nardin Sonata Streamline: Musical Alarm Watch
The Ulysse Nardin Sonata is not a new watch, but these two models are the newest iteration thereof and referred to by Ulysse Nardin as the Sonata Streamline watches. Among high-end timepieces in the brand's even most avant garde collections, the Sonata is perhaps the least understood. The Supermarine replaces the old "Swiss Made" with simply "London." Does that mean the S2000 is not Swiss made? No. Instead, it shows that Bremont has come a long way in its ongoing journey to be a serious British luxury brand. It wants people to know that it is English through and through, and will eventually lead to movements made in the UK as opposed to Switzerland. The Supermarine 500 remains my favorite Br
Gronefeld One Hertz Dune Watch
This "One Hertz Dune" is an 18k red gold version of Gronefeld's One Hertz 1912 Dead-Beat Seconds watch. "Dune" is added to the name and I think the new color tones on the watch really give it a new personality. This isn't just a gold version of the One Hertz, but a different piece with a more sultry personality. Interestingly enough, this red gold version will be limited to 20 pieces, while the steel version was limited to just 12 pieces - usually the more precious the metal, the less pieces in the limited edition.Read more about the watch and movement here when I first discussed the
