Visiting The Julien Coudray 1518 Manufacture: A Hidden Gem Where Watchmaking Tradition Prevails
Being a so-called "Manufacture" in the Swiss watch making industry has probably never been as important as it is today. To be clear, a manufacture is commonly defined as a company that makes most all components itself (and hence probably in Switzerland), with the possibly acceptable exclusion of jewels, the hairspring, and the crystal.?This previously unseen craze in regard to being a vertically integrated manufacturer has been brought about?by two different causes: for one,?it is the Swatch Group's decision to cut the amount of supplied ETA-movements to non-Swatch companies; and secon
Gucci i-Gucci Sport Watch Review
When designing this i-Gucci watch I have a feeling I know what Gucci was aiming for. The goal was probably to produce a Casio that hip urban fashion types want to wear... Those that for whatever reason don't want to wear a Casio. Compared to your standard G-Shock, the i-Gucci is more sleek, has a metal case, more simple dial, and looks less like a piece of modern Japanese technology. A G-Shock is probably more durable in the long term, but it won't get you as many "brand points" with people. In the end, the i-Gucci is meant to be a useful, fashionable, and recognizable high-end digital
Konstantin Chaykin Decalogue Watch Available On James List
St. Petersburg based Russian watch maker Konstantin Chaykin is one of the independents that I watch closely. Their new watch for 2011 was the Lunokhod that I covered here. Though this Decalogue is a piece they released last year as a limited edition of 76 pieces. The watch is actually based on a large clock in Prague that also features Hebrew characters as the hour indicators. Like the clock, the watch tells the time with the hands going counter-clockwise.This seemingly odd feature has to do with the Hebrew language, which is read right to left versus left to right. Therefore, to the
Hands-On With The Perrelet Turbine Double Rotor Watch Collection
The Perrelet Turbine watch caused a lot of stir when the images of the watch that will be released in October 2009 were displayed here on first. Then the Turbine Collection video was leaked was really hit home exactly what the Turbine Double Rotor watch was going to look like in action. I think it is clear that this special timepiece collection is going to be a big hit for Perrelet. A few days ago I got to experience pre-production models of the watch myself - and they are sweet! There will initially be three models of the watch. Two in DLC coated titanium with b
My Perrelet Jumping Hour Watch Article On AskMen
This was a great watch to write about because it is just a good execution of the jumping hour theme. Does it mean that I am partial to digital watches because I like it? That is basically what a jumping hour watch is, a hybrid between a digital watch and an analog one. Of course it would still be a mechanical digital watch. No quartz movements here.
