Top All-American Watch Makers
This 4th of July, we?¡¥d like to make note of a few exceptional watch brands not only based in the USA, but who also produce things here. As we?¡¥ve mentioned before, America was once home to some of the greatest manufacturers in the world. Unfortunately, our golden age in the industry has long since passed, and very few brands remain truly American. These selections ¡§C whether they manufacture everything domestically or use mostly foreign parts with just a few elements made in the US, are the cornerstone of the new American watch industry. The driving force behind them is a passion for tim
Swatch Scuba Libre Dive Watch Review
A few weeks back, Swatch treated us to an unveiling of their all-new Scuba Libre novelty collection ¡§C a fun assortment of brightly colored models with a decidedly aquatic theme.? Scuba Libre?¡¥s tag line is ?¡ãMad About The Sea,?¡À and Swatch put together this artistic video (commercial) interpretation of our obsession with the whimsical underwater world to coincide with the release.? It is impressively well done, and interestingly a similar concept to the ill-fated TechnoMarine "Ocean Addict" campaign that was short lived while Vincent Perriard was the CEO. Swatch has adopted the con
Vulcain 50s President's Watch
Yup, this watch is called the "50s President's Watch." While that sounds a bit funny, let me explain. In 1953 Vulcain gave a Cricket Alarm watch to President Harry Truman. Since then they have given watches to all the US Presidents (yea, I know the issues about gifting things to the president, but there is some way around it... sorta). In honor of this tradition Vulcain created the 50s President's Watch, which has a retro design hearkening back to the originals. The design is slick and actually feels very retro in your hand. Not in a "this watch is old" kinda watch, but more like "this
Alain Silberstein Hebraika Hebrew Calendar Watch
The Jewish new year just ended. On the Jewish/Hebrew calendar scale the year is 5770. The Gregorian calendar that is the universal standard for the US and business all over the world has the year at 2009. There are other calendars out there too that I am not familiar with that have the date as something else still. I find this concept interesting. Think back to the turn of the century when such a big deal was made about the year 2000. It did feel like a big change, as though something special would happen. Then again, if you think about it from a logical standpoint, it is just an arbit
Swarovski Octea Sport Ladies' Watch
Swarovski is making bold moves, ladies! (Guys, be at least idly aware). While other brands are scaling back and trying to focus on how to stay relevant in these times - Swarovski is taking their beloved crystals and developing their own line of watches, to properly exhibit the beauty - on a timepiece. My initial thought upon seeing the new line of watches from Swarovski was that it looks so familiar...I tried to think of the exact predominantly women's brands that it reminded me of, and then I realized - all of them.Chanel - Dior - Nixon - Tag Heuer. You cannot escape those immediate p
