HYT H2 White Gold Blue & Platinum Red Watches
For 2014, the Hyrdomechanical Horologists (HYT) will release new color and material versions of the H2 watch that they originally released in 2013 (hands-on here). If you recall, we really liked the H2, so much so that we included it in our list of top 10 watches for Baselworld 2013. The H2 is a higher-end version of the H1 (hands-on here), that was the debut model from HYT and combined a traditional mechanical movement with a liquid indicator for the hours. There are going to be three limited editions for 2014 and here we will cover the two that use new liquid colors. The new 18k whit
Porsche Design Group Ends Watch Production Relationship With Eterna
Interesting news today as Porsche Design and Eterna have announced that they have terminated their watch making relationship. For years Porsche Design (designed) watches were produced by the Swiss watch maker Eterna, located in Grenchen, Switzerland. As of March 10th, 2014, the two companies have announced the termination of their license agreement to develop, produce, and sell Porsche Design branded timepieces.Sadly, I did see this coming. Porsche Design has aligned itself with some interesting watch companies over the years including, most notably, IWC. Their run with Eterna helped
Calibre de Cartier Chronograph Watch
Cartier has made it pretty clear that the Calibre case is going to enjoy a lot of life. It has served as the base for everything from mainstream luxury to ultra-high-end Cartier models, and continues to have a promising future as Cartier currently prefers the Calibre as their premier men's model. One of my personal favorite aspects of the Calibre is that no one has ever referred to it as "unisex." Many Cartier timepieces have that fluid sense of French polish that makes them good enough for a man, but appropriate for a woman. The Calibre is "all dude." Earlier in 2013 the collection wa
Christopher Ward C11 MSL MK1 Automatic Watch Review
I've been a fan of Christopher Ward for a long time. They were one of the first high-value brands I discovered, and a wonderful introduction to fine watches. It has been a pleasure to watch their style develop and evolve, which is to say that I had a lot of anticipation going when I opened the box for their newest model, the C11 automatic.According to their catalog, the design team went through 30 to 40 iterations, trying to create a watch with the look and clarity of an aircraft altimeter in a wearable form. The result, a squared-off complex shape with decorative screws and some subt
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Palmero Open Watch
I fell in love with this watch the second I put it on my wrist. Images formed in my head of how I could dash out with it undetected by Jaeger-LeCoultre's watchful eyes. It takes a really nice watch to conjure up images of grand larceny in your head. I let them keep the timepiece, but thoughts of it stayed in my mind. I really need to own one of these someday. Before you is the Palmero Open version of the Reverso Squadra watch. There are other versions of the piece of course that aren't limited editions like this (gold is limited to 500 pieces, while the steel is not limited). Unl
