Cadillac Points To Luxury Watches Industry As Inspiration For 2013 XTS Car Design
Much ink has been spilled when it comes to comparing wristwatches and cars, and it's an analogy I myself have drawn in articles. Most times, though, that comparison has been in one direction. ?A video we found from Cadillac shows us the comparison can actually be a two-way street. The video is really a PR bit for the design influences for Cadillac's new XTS model. While they call out other industries, it was very intriguing to hear them deliberately reference the watch industry - specifically, the luxury end of the market. Frankly, it's not a big leap to make, in either direction. Though it
Swiss Army New Original Watch
1989 Swiss Army releases their first timepiece. It is called the Original. I have no idea if it was originally called the original. That would be ironic, sort of. It is certainly an icon though. Everyone has seen this watch. Either on someone's wrist, in a store, or just online. This is the original Swiss Army watch design... OK, I need to stop saying "original."The great thing about the Original is that it is still made and sold today. Holy crap, is this the VW Beetle of timepieces? In a sense it sort of is. Today the original Original retails for about $195 (a bit cheaper online) an
Virtual Ideas Toxic Linear Time Watch Concept
With linear time indicators that resemble syringes, the "Toxic" watch concept creation by Swiss Virtual Ideas is another neat idea by the watch design firm. Showing time on linear scales means that an indicator moves across a scale and then jumps back once it reaches the end. Look closely and you can see a telescopic arm that moves across the dial with a red strip for the indicator. It moves like a vial filling up or emptying at the arm extends and pushes in the indicator. It would have been cool for it too look like one side of the indicator was filling with a colored liquid. The tele
Ernst Benz Shows China Love With The Beijing 2008 Limited Edition Chronoscope Watch
Typically speaking I am not a huge fan of anything that Mario Batali (or other Food Network chefs) promotes. The large, overly orange man is one of several "brand ambassadors" of Swiss Ernst Benz watches. Accordingly, Ernst Benz also offers a large, overly orange version of its popular Valjoux 7750 based watch named the Chronoscope, which is part of a Mario Batali edition. Though not all of their watches have such silly companions. The newest Ernst Benz Chronoscopes are a limited edition in recognition of the Olympic games being held in Beijing China. These watches are actually more a
