Blancpain is a really, really interesting exercise mark
This is a really, really interesting exercise marks - and I don't know if it is a good idea. Frederic Piguet is (I mean, was) manufacturer of the Swatch Group high-end movement. Kind of like a version plue ETA. Most of the end of the Swatch Group brands used the movements of Frederic Piguet (range brands include Breguet, Jaquet Droz, Blancpain etc....). It is not to say that Frédéric Piguet made all the movements of these marks, but many of them.
Memorigin Transformers Tourbillon Watches With Optimus Prime Or Bumblebee
This is the limited edition Memorigin Transformers Tourbillon watch collection. First there was the Memorigin Batman The Dark Knight Rises Tourbillon, the Memorigin Superman Tourbillon, and now we get a tourbillon-equipped watch with either Optimus Prime or Bumblebee.Memorigin is a Hong Kong-based watchmaker which exists as part of the emerging "high-end Chinese watch" category that aBlogtoWatch has been covering for the last two years or so. In fact, we see very little new movements these days from the major brands. Movement development is extremely expensive and time consuming. It is often best to extend the life of successful movements by dressing them up in different ways, in different watches. Zenith of course is among the true in-house
Alain Silberstein Hebraika Hebrew Calendar Watch
The Jewish new year just ended. On the Jewish/Hebrew calendar scale the year is 5770. The Gregorian calendar that is the universal standard for the US and business all over the world has the year at 2009. There are other calendars out there too that I am not familiar with that have the date as something else still. I find this concept interesting. Think back to the turn of the century when such a big deal was made about the year 2000. It did feel like a big change, as though something special would happen. Then again, if you think about it from a logical standpoint, it is just an arbit
SalonQP 2011 Watch Show In London
While I won't be attending there this year (I did go last year), I do invite you to attend the 2011 annual SalonQP watch show event in London. The focus is on English watch makers, but that is just part of the show. For the third iteration of the event, the planners have moved it to the Saatchi Gallery in London and it will be held from November 10-12, 2011. Do check it out if you are in the area.
