Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph Watch
Hey watch makers, can you do me a little favor if it isn't too much to ask? Well you sometimes put the term "Vintage" in the name of a new watch. While it is possible that you - and probably I - know what you mean, a lot of people are going to be confused. This is especially true when the watch is meant to look a bit older in style. I don't think you are intentionally trying to confuse anyone, but a lot of consumers are going to look at your new watch with a "Vintage" name and think that it is merely a descriptive term indicating that the watches are in fact, "vintage." Which they aren
Swiss Army New Original Watch
1989 Swiss Army releases their first timepiece. It is called the Original. I have no idea if it was originally called the original. That would be ironic, sort of. It is certainly an icon though. Everyone has seen this watch. Either on someone's wrist, in a store, or just online. This is the original Swiss Army watch design... OK, I need to stop saying "original."The great thing about the Original is that it is still made and sold today. Holy crap, is this the VW Beetle of timepieces? In a sense it sort of is. Today the original Original retails for about $195 (a bit cheaper online) an
Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute To Deep Sea Re-issue Watches
It wasn't until I put this watch (I mean watches) on my wrist, that I understood why Jager-LeCoultre wanted to make it (again). The Memovox Deep Sea was the brand's first real dive watch - made in 1959 until the early 1960s. I read that 1,061 pieces were ever produced. Getting one today (in any condition) is an almost impossible task. And there you have your reason. The history behind the watch is sufficient for JLC to make it again - to offer aficionado's the ability to obtain and un-obtainable watch. Makes sense right? And isn't that what offering a "re-issue" watch is all about.
IWC: The Book, The Manufacture
I did a survey on Luxist within the last year that was a survey of the ?¡ãbest?¡À luxury watch brands according to the site?¡¥s readers who participated in the poll. I had to choose five brands, and among those was IWC. With a strong, focused product line, and an emphasis on performance and gentlemen?¡¥s sport activity, I felt that the brand resonated particularly well with American audiences. While such polls aren?¡¥t hard science, the result was that Luxist readers felt that IWC was the best luxury watch brand. Beating the likes of others such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet.IWC
