bold limited-edition timepiece represents the third series in Concord¡¯s exploration
This bold limited-edition timepiece represents the third series in Concord's exploration of the tourbillon. Three tourbillons are in action here, each rotating at different speeds to perform distinct gravity-defying functions. Two of them are nested one inside the other while the third tourbillon carriage rotates a separate balance on a single axis in the conventional way, but at the relatively high speed of one revolution every 36 seconds. The hours and minutes are shown on discs rotating against their respective markers, and the seconds appear on a scale around the bi-axial tourbillon. Sapphire and citrine gemstones are used to indicate the power reserve. Eleven color-graded blue sapphires from dark to pale show the power left in the mainspring. When the six yellow citrines appear against the marker, the wearer knows it's time to wind up the watch.
Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Micro-Rotor Automatic Watch
A former Patek Philippe watch maker as I recall, Laurent Ferrier set up shop making his own watches a few years ago under his own name. His first watch was the rather impressive (and award winning) Galet Classic Double Balance Spring Tourbillon. It won him a prize at the GPHG 2010. Following the Tourbillon, he began to develop and eventually produce an automatic, and a while ago I took some hands on images of it. While Laurent Ferrier watches aren't for everyone, in my opinion they are among the finest "classic" timepieces available with marvelously meticulous designs that don't compro
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso By Zep Watch
I'll be really frank that I have no idea who or what Zep is. I mean I know a bit more now after researching and writing this article, but seeing his little smoke plume-haired character for the first time was a novel experience. I guess it is a Swiss/European thing. What... Tin Tin makes it international but Titeuf and Asterix are Euro only? Having said that, I do love cartoons and comics of all varieties. Something about hand-drawn things that really appeal to me.Zep is the pseudonym of an artist who draws and writer a comic strip series known as Titeuf and is Swi
Louis Moinet Meteoris Watch Set
You are looking at the one-of-a-kind Meteoris from watch maker Louis Moinet. Meteoris is a set of four watches and this artfully-made mechanical planetarium. The set is for the serious astrological and horological connoisseur. Clearly very expensive, the set has some interesting features that are worth knowing about. Looking at the planetarium it is clear that the table-like structure is on a pedestal with an ornate mechanical planetarium on it surrounded by four pillow sections for the watches. Actually, given the complexity of the planetarium, I wish that Louis Moinet would ha
