How To Use A Watch Bezel Slide Rule
Contributed by Mark Carson of Individual DesignIf you've ever seen a watch with a slide rule bezel and haven't known how to use it, we have a little guide for you.As many of you know, watches with slide rule functions have 2 logarithmic scales (the outer of which turns). In contrast, a tachymeter scale is hyperbolic and typically has numbers that run in from infinity down to sixty. Both slide rule and tachymeter watches use non-linear scales. Let's look a bit at a generic scale.NOTE - the images shown are a bit rough as they are not photographs of an actual circular slide rule. This
MB&F And Alain Silberstein HM2.2 Black Box Watch
Sometimes I wait a bit after news "breaks" to discuss a topic. That was the case with MB&F's new HM (horological machine) 2.2 watch. The timepiece is a further extension of the quite pricey luxury HM2 watch. MB&F has given the watch several version done in combos of metals (gold, titanium...), ceramic, and of course colors and styles. I've worn a few of them, and admit they are sorta cool. One of the biggest criticisms of that watch is that it was unwearable. True, the the wide box is tough to wear on your wrist, but it isn't exactly "unwearable" (like the DeWitt WX-1). From a

Going To JCK Jewelry & Watch Show In Las Vegas
I'd like to think that JCK is sort of like an American? Baselworld. It isn't, but it is a pretty good step in that direction. While combined with jewelry, JCK attracts a large number of watch brands and I will be attending it this year as a member of the press. This will be my first time going to such an event, so I will take my camera and trust me that I have some good meetings lined up. I might just possibly use up the full 12 gigs of memory card space I have on images over the next few days. There are two elements to the show. First are the expo halls where lots of the brands hang o
Devon Steampunk Tread 1 Watch
Destined for near future production, is the Devon Steampunk Tread 1 watch. According to Scott Devon, they wanted to play with steampunk ideas for the Tread 1 as a design study. The customer reaction was so good that production is being fast tracked. This of course is the steampunk styled version of the original Devon Tread 1 that I reviewed here. The final design might change a bit, but these renders will reflect how the final versions will look. I anticipate these being a limited production series which we may see in real life closer to the end of 2012. Devon's designer makes it clear
