2LMX Watch
Just announced is the new watch brand 2LMX with their first watch... the 2LMX. I think a model name will come later. The super cool mechanical timepiece is one of those things that helps me explain to people what I do when they ask "how is it that you write at least once a day on watches?" Because cool stuff like this keeps coming out. The watch is the brainchild of Arnaud Tellier. He is the former head of the Geneva Patek Philippe museum.Interesting that he and his pals went futuristic after he resided over classic and vintage pieces for so long. The 2LMX watch reminds me of t
The World Of Independent Watch Makers
After I (Meehna) posted an article on Roger Smith, I got several requests for an article on "independents." By popular demand, here it is:An independent watchmaker brand is not an easy concept to define because there are so many shades of gray when trying to define it. There are lots of brands that are considered independent, but for the purposes of this article, I am referring to brands that have been established by actual watchmakers, who themselves more or less make the watches. Moreover, the watchmakers under discussion have the skills to not only work on the most complicated of m
Casio Pathfinder PAW-2000 Watch Is Coming
I got a chance to check this watch out briefly at JCK in early June. It is pretty cool and and update to the Casio Pathfinder PAW-1500 watch that I reviewed favorably here. This is the Pathfinder PAW-2000 and represents a nice incremental improvement over the PAW-1500. The PAW-2000 watch is actually thinner and has a few more functions. I didn't even think it was possible to make this watch any thinner, but Casio did it. A major new elements is the duplex LCD screen(s). This isn't the first time Casio has done this, but the application is welcome here. What does that mean? Well basical
Bavarian Crono Offers Volkswagen Instrument Panel Homage Collection Of Watches (1946-1970s)
This will not be the first time that a watch face was designed after an automobile instrument panel, but this time there is no hiding the fact. In an obvious wave to the cultural icon that Volkswagen cars have been for so many over the years, Bavarian Crono ("Chrono" for us English minded folks) offers a line of watches that have very faithfully mimicked the look and feel of selected classic VW instrument panels. Currently there are 10 watches in the collection, but I suspect more will be added if this collection grows more popular (Bavarian Crono already has a few Mercedes-Benz a
Hublot King Power Unico GMT Watch
For those of you who love all of the Hublot content here is an exclusive look at a brand new one for 2012 with a new in-house made movement. This is the Hublot King Power Unico GMT watch. It has a unique way of showing 24 timezones on the dial and looks very slick. The idea is very similar to how the Girard-Perregaux ww.tc works, but just displayed in a very different manner. The four GMT discs move with the main time. Using the little red lines and city names around the bezel and inside of the dial you can tell the time in each of the 24 hour time zones. Neat right? I like the
