Arnold & Son UTTE Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Watch Review
It is not often that we at aBlogtoWatch write three articles on the same timepiece, but the UTTE gets that treatment. At Baselworld 2013 Arnold & Son released this watch as the world's (current) thinnest tourbillon. We debuted the UTTE watch for you here. "UTTE" stands for "ultra thin tourbillon escapement," and it certainly is. Arnold & Son narrowly beat Piaget to production of the thinnest tourbillon ever. Being the most thin isn't really that important to us. What is important is that the watch is very wearable, and very attractive. At Baselworld 2013 we got a nice hands-on
Longines Conquest GMT Watch Review
This is the Longines?Conquest GMT, reference L3.687.4.566. At first glance, it looks like one of many GMTs bearing the ETA 2893 movement, but then you notice that date window. Look at where it is on the dial, all the way at the right edge (so this is something different):That tells you the size of the movement matches the dial, and this watch has a 34mm dial. The 2893 is 11.5 ligne, or about 25mm. Once you start looking, you'll notice that most large watches have a date window more towards the center, because the movement is too small. Pet peeve of mine. This one, on the other
Looking At Liquid Metal Watches With Omega
The modern arms race with watches isn?¡¥t about gears and pinions, but rather materials. It may appear that brands are hot on beating each others' movements but they know that such a war would be a joke. The race for the most accurate movement slowed to almost a halt when quartz watches hit the scene, and there are almost no new viable complications to be invented. The secrecy and excitement in the world of high-end watches is all in discovering, creating, and exploiting the hottest new materials. We?¡¥ve seen this over the last 10 years more than ever. Ceramic, titanium, carbon fiber, sil
Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time Platinum Ref. 5134P Watch Available On JamesList
Here is a rare and unique looking Patek Philippe watch from a time that feels so long ago - when the economy was optimistic and the future seemed so bright, back in 2003. That was when this Calatrava Travel Time Platinum Ref. 5134P was originally released. Still shaken from the dot com bubble boom, no doubt a few people of the era picked up one of the nice watch. Even the looks of the watch is almost Patek Philippe's way of being optimistically futuristic. I think I'll start calling this watch the Time Travel, instead of Travel Time.As the name implies, this 37mm wide watch case is co
SIHH 2009 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Diving Navy SEALs Watch Collection
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor collection was already strong, but this new line solidifies it as the best diving watch collection Jaeger LeCoultre has ever made.? The new line was just released at SIHH 2009. The alarm version pictured is my favorite, but there is also a GMT chronograph or world timer with depth gauge models available. The alarm is clean looking with only a subtle reminder that a middle ring for the alarm with small arrow hand is there when you need it. It certainly doesn't get in the way. Further, Jager-LeCoultre has improved the minutes hand on the watch. IT no
