URWERK UR-1001 Zeit Machine Pocket Watch
The UR-1001 could easily be mistaken for the world's most expensive computer mouse, especially with the dangling chain and its almost too ergonomic shape that just fits under your hand. Alas, the buttons don't work and I don't think it is USB operated. That technical oversight might make this mouse awfully inept as a computer peripheral, but it does make for a really cool high-end pocket watch! I first wrote about the UR-1001 here where you can go for lots more details and tech specs.Limited to just eight pieces, this curio from another world is Urwerk's take on the age-old concept of
Gustafsson & Sj?gren Blizzard and Aurora Watches Are So Metal
Everyone's favorite metal working watch makers Gustafsson & Sj?gren (GoS) are back with two new watch models. The line continues to evolve in a conservative manner (aside from the Damascus steel that is). Patrik Sj?gren and Johan Gustafsson have found that their customers prefer more classically styled watches - who'd have thought? It is actually true though. There is a tendency for us watch lovers to enjoy reading about wild timepieces, but when it comes down to it we want to wear something more conservative. Does this observation fit with your habits?I previously discusse
Perrelet Moon Phase Watch Line
The new Moon Phase watch from Perrelet drew my attention because of the sophisticated formal looks, and the big moon. A new trend in mechanical moon phase watches is the use of a large "realistic" -looking moon. The moon phase window in the watch takes up almost half of the dial and is more than just a side complication. It is the main draw of the watch!Depending on who you are, knowing the phase of the moon is useful (you lycanthrope!) or trivial. Either way it does look fancy, and makes for a spiffy look for a man, or a woman. And at 40mm wide, it is a size that is big, but not obsc
Jaquet Droz Bird Repeater Automaton Watch
Jaquet Droz is about to officially announce their new automata-based minute repeater watch called The Bird Repeater. Yup, that's right. Last March during Basel I got to view a computer rendering animation of the watch in action. While the minute repeater is activated a few things happen on the dial. Among those include a "moving" waterfall as well as a mother bird feeding a chick that hatches from an egg. Automaton birds are deeply part of Jaquet Droz's original history. While the concept is "original," the detailing and execution is really impressive. This picture was taken of a finis
Pulsar Men's Automatic Watch Winner Follow-Up
Back in August (of 2010) I offered this Pulsar (by Seiko) Men's Automatic watch as a giveaway. The winner, Chris, happened to be a bit of a blogger himself and was nice enough to share his thoughts (and watch) with the world in a review. The watch looks pretty nice, especially for the price. You can check out the winner's review of the Pulsar Ref. PS2004 here. I am always glad to hear from another happy giveaway recipient. Note that the above pictures are taken by him.
