bold limited-edition timepiece represents the third series in Concord¡¯s exploration
This bold limited-edition timepiece represents the third series in Concord's exploration of the tourbillon. Three tourbillons are in action here, each rotating at different speeds to perform distinct gravity-defying functions. Two of them are nested one inside the other while the third tourbillon carriage rotates a separate balance on a single axis in the conventional way, but at the relatively high speed of one revolution every 36 seconds. The hours and minutes are shown on discs rotating against their respective markers, and the seconds appear on a scale around the bi-axial tourbillon. Sapphire and citrine gemstones are used to indicate the power reserve. Eleven color-graded blue sapphires from dark to pale show the power left in the mainspring. When the six yellow citrines appear against the marker, the wearer knows it's time to wind up the watch.
Alpina Sailing Collection Chronograph
In honor of a new Alpina sponsorship that I could care less about comes a watch that I do care about. Apparently, this one is the first in a "Sailing Collection" of watches made for ... Sailing. This Chronograph model is a regatta timer - a first, I believe, for the Swiss brand. Regatta timers are used for helping sailors to carefully line up their boats with the beginning of a yacht race. They are, basically, modified 10 minute countdown timers. Unless you are sailing, they are pretty much useless for anything aside from imprecise 10 minute countdowns. The good news is that they are r
Casio Pathfinder PAW-2000 Watch Review
This could be the best Casio Pathfinder watch to date. A much slimmed down case and new usability features, along with new functions make this the Pathfinder watch to own. Still Casio is careful not to alienate the rest of the Pathfinder line by giving other models a few features that this model doesn't have. The last Casio Pathfinder watch I reviewed was the PAW1500, the model that came out immediately before the PAW-2000 (PAW2000). Given your needs, the PAW1500 might actually be a better suited model than the PAW2000. The PAW1500 is thicker, has a rotating navigational bezel, a moon
Tag Heuer Monaco Mikrograph For Only Watch 2011 Auction
Tag Heuer's piece unique entry into the Only Watch 2011 charity watch auction will be this one-of-a-kind version of their new Mikrograph in a Monaco case. The Mikrograph was a limited edition of 150 pieces, retro looking model with a special 1/100th of a second chronograph movement. Tag Heuer now plays with the design and places the movement in this more futuristic looking case. While this is a one-off watch to be auctioned off, look to elements of this piece for future design directions. See more articles about: Charity InterestsOnly WatchTAG Heuer MonacoWatches & CarsWat
Devon Tread 1 Exoskeleton Watch
One of the new Devon watches for 2013 to be presented at Baselworld will be this Exoskeleton version of the Tread 1 (reviewed here). This will be Devon's highest-end watch to-date. While the core electro-mechanical movement from the Tread 1 remains more or less the same, and the overall design is certainly "Tread 1", this piece is a different beast altogether. For one thing Devon is thinking about making it in precious materials such as 18k white or rose gold. More importantly, it will be highly "skeletonized."Devon will likely use the same "ballistic polycarbonate" as the cry
