Weird Watch Art By Dominic Wilcox
From time-to-time we come across art inspired by, or placed directly inside of, a watch or clock. An aBlogtoWatch reader was nice enough to share with us the work of UK-born and -based Dominic Wilcox, who, among other things, has made wrist and pocket watch dials a palette for artistic expression.Wilcox calls these creations "Watch Sculptures" and they start with vintage wrist and pocket watches that he has acquired. The first step is removing the crystal and replacing them with a tall dome to make room for the small sculptures and figurines that he creates. Wilcox claims to be inspir
Voutilainen 28 Hisui Watch
This isn't the first time that Kari Voutilainen has worked with Japanese national treasure and legendary lacquer artist Kitamura Tatsuo, otherwise known as "Unryuan." Kitamura's crafts take many different forms, and when he works with Voutilainen, it is often for carefully hand-assembled mosaic dials that combine a range of natural elements and materials such as gold and mollusk shells. While Tony could have easily worked with a number of higher-end brands, he really wanted to make sure that his friends could afford the watch with his name on it. His friends were working with brands like Audemars Piguet - and while they created some beautif
Temption CM05 Watch
I have a really strong affinity to the small, independent German watch maker Temption. I have two of their watches, the CGK203 and the Cameo (click on those links for my reviews). Each year they try to release a new model, and I eager await what they have to share. Last year it was the beautiful Cameo, and this year is the CM05. While the Cameo was a totally new design for the brand, the CMO5 is more of an evolution on their classic look. Emphasis here is on build quality, and the simple design aesthetic that made the Cameo as popular as it was.Temption is proud that the CM05 is total
