Blancpain is a really, really interesting exercise mark
This is a really, really interesting exercise marks - and I don't know if it is a good idea. Frederic Piguet is (I mean, was) manufacturer of the Swatch Group high-end movement. Kind of like a version plue ETA. Most of the end of the Swatch Group brands used the movements of Frederic Piguet (range brands include Breguet, Jaquet Droz, Blancpain etc....). It is not to say that Frédéric Piguet made all the movements of these marks, but many of them.
Eterna Royal KonTiki Manufacture GMT Watch
For 2014, Eterna is new. How is an historic brand new? Well, Eterna is under new ownership and new leadership. While much of the brand is the same, the next few years will see a lot of differences - especially as their relationship with Porsche Design has recently ended. Many of those differences will start with a return to some of the brand's major products of the 20th century. Enter the new Eterna Royal KonTiki Manufacture GMT watch, a piece which has incredible promise in design, movement, and price. All it needs is a refined dial and I think Eterna has a serious hit on its hands.a
Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100 GPS Watch
New for 2014,?Citizen watches releases yet another new collection of GPS watches that sync with global positioning satellites to indicate the correct time anywhere you are in the world. This newest evolution is the best looking yet, and I think they have hit upon an excellent mix of functionality and design with the Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100.For Citizen, their modern GPS watch collection began in 2011 with the release of the original Satellite Wave (hands-on here). In 2013 Citizen followed up with the more practical Satellite Wave-Air (which actually gets some brand new designs fo
Jean Dunand Shabaka Watch
Hands-on with the Shabaka watch was very interesting. I have been fascinated by the Art Deco-themed watch by Jean Dunand since it came out a few years ago. Jean Dunand is an interesting super-high-end brand that produces exclusively "piece unique" creations. On my wrist is an 18k white gold Shabaka with a baguette diamond-lined bezel.I think the Shabaka originally came out in 2007, but new pieces are slowly being made. The movement is entirely made and designed by Christophe Claret. In fact, all Jean Dunand watches (Tourbillon Orbital, Palace) have movements done by Christophe Claret.
Two Engraved Skeletonized Beauties: The Patek Philippe 'Art Piece 5180/1 And The IWC Portuguese Tourbillon Myst¡§¡§re Squelette Watches
This is not going to be one of those articles that is seeped in watch movement technicalities. This is going to be about the visual appreciation of thorough watch decoration. Sometime you want a watch that is just stunning to look at. You gaze deeply in its rich complexity noticing minute details bearing the attention of the engraving tools, and you consider again, that luxury has a face.IWC and Patek Philippe are known for creating high quality, high desire watches. Though they are not known for highly decorated watches, at least on the face. Rather, most IWC and Patek Philippe watche
