Why Aren't Mechanical Watches More Advanced? - Ask Watch Experts Questions About Watches
Nikoloz K. from Moscow, Russia asks:Dear aBlogtoWatch! (in fact i like aBlogtoRead more, but i guess it suits the content better)… What might be a reason that mechanical watches have not developed much, if any, in terms of replacing the balance wheel? There are numerous watch complications but the balance wheel escapement concept remains the same. I mean what could be harder to invent and produce then a minute repeater but still no replacement for balance wheel mechanism. Of course, not that I have something against balance wheel and hair spring movement concept but it would be
Christophe Claret Margot: His First Watch For Women That They Will Love/Love Not
The Margot is Christophe Claret's first watch ever intended for women, and we have to admit that it is rather imaginative. The maker of extremely high-end complicated men's watches wanted to create something unique for females, so he made a watch with a poetic complication very similar in theme to what a brand like Van Cleef & Arpels would create. The complication in the Margot watch is a simple game of chance, and the irony is
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Watch for Singapore's Raffles Hotel
Of all of the world's many thousands of hotels, very few ever become an icon for the city or country in which they are based. Consider Haiti's Hotel Oloffson, Dubai's Burj Khalifa (as seen in MI4: Ghost Protocol) or the Bellagio Hotel of Las Vegas. Some hotels are so longstanding that they can become a pillar for global tourism in their area. Singapore's premiere example of this is the Raffles Hotel, wh
New Anonimo Watches For 2010
I recently learned that Italian Anonimo watches have returned to the US. Sources indicated that until just recently they had abandoned the United States market! Now Anonimo USA is pledging a full scale eruption of "Anonomic" proportions. Well I just made that one word up, but it seems to fit. With a history linked to Panerai and a style that is similar, the brand has a rich and dedicated following with some good looking products. I'd love to get my hands on some soon. Click here for an example of a very long and through homage to their popular Polluce line of watches.Anonimo has a few
Milus Kama Sutra Butterfly Watch Themed Cufflinks With Rotors
These cufflinks (cuff links? Space, no space?) might make you blush, but they are nice right? To me they combine a few thinks I like. Let's delay the obvious for now and focus on the awesome integration of the automatic rotors in the cufflinks. These are new 18k rose gold men's cufflinks from Milus, a Swiss watch maker who also dabbles in jewelry and accessories. ? These nice looking men's accessories here are called Kama Sutra Butterfly cufflinks and are made in a casting process to help reproduce the look of a watch movement, which is the point. The cufflinks feature beautiful real r
