Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM557 Destro 3 Days Watch: A Lefty PAM372
Panerai has debuted two new (retro designed) Luminor 1950 pieces at SIHH 2014. We have already looked at the monopusher chronograph here, and now it's time to discuss the other offering from this range: the more restrained, two-hand only PAM557 Destro 3 Days which is essentially identical to the famed PAM372 model (reviewed here), but with a lefty crown layout. This time around we really are looking at a rather simple modification: the PAM557 follows the trend set by the chronograph piece as it also shares a lot in common with yet another 2011 novelty, the PAM372 (Luminor 1950 3 Days).
Baselworld 2013: NOMOS Ahoi
There's just something appealing about the stark aesthetic espoused by the Bauhaus design ethos, and NOMOS is just one of those brands that embodies it well, to my way of thinking. ?They've introduced several new models this year at Basel (see our writeup here on the new NOMOS 38 series), and I came across another one that surprised me a bit.Of course, being surprised by model introductions in Basel is par-for-the-course, at least some of the time. ?What surprised me the most about this new Ahoi model is that it's truly a dive watch (if in no other terms than it's 200 meter water resi

SIHH 2013 is in full swing and A. Lange & Sohne is not pulling any punches. ALS has announced the new 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar, and it looks to be a complete knockout. Featuring a new Lange calibre, the L.101.1, the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar combines some of the most sought after complications into one dazzling package that has been designed as a tribute to early A. Lange & Sohne pocket watches. The L.101.1 movement, which consists of 636 separate parts,? incorporates a rattrapante or split-seconds chronograph, a perpetual calendar, moon phas
Dreaming In Color: Daniel Dreifuss & Maurice de Mauriac Watches
?¡ãI used to drive a Bentley, but I like this Fiat more. What other car has a turning radius like this? None!?¡À Daniel points this little fact out as he whisks me around Zurich in a very un-Swiss like driving manner. His finesse on the road fits the Italian lineage of the car much better than the conservative tone the bank city we are in is known for.Daniel Dreifuss, a Swiss native, has been in the watch industry for years. Like many people involved in the world of timepieces, it happened quite by accident to Daniel. His major foray in watches before starting Maurice de Mauriac was a thr
