IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 Watch
Months after SIHH 2014, and I am only now able to discuss my hands-on time with my favorite new IWC Aquatimer watch for this year. Out of all the new Aquatimer watches (it was year of the diver, after all, at IWC) the IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 ref. IW358002 (aka ref. 3580) is my top pick as a dive watch nerd. Based on the design of the iconic 1982 IWC Ocean 2000, the IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 incorporates some of the Ocean 2000's 80s sci-fi elements with the comforts of a modern watch. All of this comes at a time when my love for dive watches is high, but I am unsure about my fee

Marc Newson Video On Designing Watches And The End Of Ikepod
Marc Newson offers a rare interview discussing his career designing watches with Dezeen. In the video Newson offers some interesting details that many people might not be aware of. Newson started to design watches and clocks back in the 1980s. In the 1990s he started the watch brand Ikepod - which arguably helped set a lot of trends in both watch design and production. Newson does sort of credit himself as having started the "big watch" trend. True or not, it is charming to see him boast about it.I've talked to Ikepod about working with Marc during the last several years of their relationsh
SIHH 2012 Watch Show Summary: Hello China, Goodbye China
SIHH is a bit like the automobile traffic in Italy. It is crowded and there is only the semblance of organization. Despite a series of reasons why you might thing the entire system should not work, it does. The mania of a trade show convention is ironically melded with the attempt at having a high society event. The contradictions of the show shadow the very industry it serves - and somehow we love it for that. By the way, a shout out to IWC for their incredibly intricate booth design. No detail was spared to make their booth look like a bona-fide Hollywood set on board an aircraft car
Phosphor Reveal Watch Review
This is the Phosphor Reveal watch - and it is sort of a bling object for watch nerds (and nerdettes). This is a new type of timepiece for Phosphor - as up until now they were known for offering well-priced e-ink screen watches such as the World Time and Digital Hour Clock. The Reveal is not an e-ink watch but rather a timepiece that uses "micro-magnetic mechanical digital" technology. Basically, the movements use magnets to flip around the crystals to display the time digitally. It is on a base quartz movement with the complex mechanism on top if working to show the time. For this fir
