Louis Cartier followed his success with the Santos
Louis Cartier followed his success with the Santos when he designed and released the Tank in 1917, inspired, appropriately, by the design of the Renault tanks used in the First World War. Cartier presented the prototype to General John Pershing of the American Expeditionary Force. Cartier expanded on the simple square of the Santos; the Tank features a square watch in a rectangular case with its straps hidden under vertical sidepieces. The watch features blued, sword shaped hands with a winding crown that is topped with a sapphire.
Watch Winner Review: Gc Gc-3 Automatic
In January 2014 the aBlogtoWatch giveaway watch was a fine looking Gc Gc-3 automatic. Our fortunate winner was Mr. Oliver S., and he has returned with some thoughts and pictures of his new timepiece. We thank Oliver and many of the other watch winners for following the aBlogtoWatch tradition of following up after they've received their timepiece. See his thoughts below: First off, I would just like to take a moment to thank aBlogtoWatch for selecting me, the lucky winner! It certainly was an incredible surprise ¡§C during an insomnia-fueled horology binge ¡§C to see an email from Ariel to
Swiss Army Dive Master 500 Watches For 2012
I've always really liked the Swiss Army Dive Master collection of watches. Over the last few years the brand has released a range of these models in both quartz and mechanical form. I personally reviewed a Swiss Army Dive Master 500 watch here. For 2012, Swiss Army has "re-launched" the Dive Master 500. Nothing radically new, but the cool watch remains... cool. Most people seeing the new Dive Master 500 versions will first notice the quartz models with the new dials. The sword-shaped hands have been replaced with a fat arrow hand and a baton style hand. There are also new hour markers
Pierre DeRoche TNT Watches
Pierre DeRoche is a decidedly small brand with a big sense ambition. The brand owner is Pierre Dubios, one of the three Dubois brothers. The other two run Dubois-Depraz, the important watch movement module maker that I discussed here. For Pierre, Pierre DeRoche is sort of the unofficial Dubois-Depraz watch brand. They use all Dubois-Depraz movements, and the three brothers each wear one. While I am not going to go into extended detail into specific models, I did get a chance to see the entire collection with Pierre high in the Swiss mountains in the Jura where Pierre DeRoche is located
Orient M-Force SEL03001D Diver Watch Review
One of my favorite divers in my collection is an Orient CFD0C001B Saturation Diver. I reviewed it here. While it has quirks, the big beefy diver has a great look with a useful dial and a fantastically adjustable bracelet. I still love wearing it today. As far as I know it is one of Orient's most expensive watches and certainly at the top of their diver collection. This M-Force Diver model is more modern, but considered a mid-range model between the more pricey Saturation Diver and Orient's lower-end offerings. It is further accompanied by a similar watch called the Orient Revolver dive
