Cartier has replaced traditional metallic springs with fiberglass springs
Cartier has replaced traditional metallic springs with fiberglass springs, a horological first. Replacing the traditional metal alloys inside the barrel eliminates at least two problems that for centuries have been plaguing all mechanical watches: the uneven torque (from high to low as the spring unwinds) and energy-sapping friction between spring and barrel.

The Streets Of London: Watch Hunting With A Watchmaker
Please enjoy the following article contributed by legendary watchmaker Peter Roberts of England. Peter's new self-named brand is Peter Roberts and is about to release their first watch. It is 1969 and the streets of London are still swinging. As a young horology student, at Hackney Technical College, I am wondering where I will be able to get my hands on some top quality watches for practice. Cambridge University Gets Masterful Corpus 'Chronophage' Clock From Inventor John C. Taylor: Reminds Students To Graduate On Time, Or Else!
I love this stuff. It seems as though most all inventors at one point in their life just have to create some method of displaying the time. They can't call them 'clocks' either, that would be too...routine. Here we have a fascinating clock that was donated to Cambridge University in England by successful inventor John C. Taylor, who himself attended Cambridge in the 1950s. He refers to it as a "Chronophage" (something that 'eats' time), and named it the "Corpus Clock." This is likely do to the fact that it will be placed at the Corpus Christi College at Cambridge.Taylor has had a privi
