Visiting The Julien Coudray 1518 Manufacture: A Hidden Gem Where Watchmaking Tradition Prevails
Being a so-called "Manufacture" in the Swiss watch making industry has probably never been as important as it is today. To be clear, a manufacture is commonly defined as a company that makes most all components itself (and hence probably in Switzerland), with the possibly acceptable exclusion of jewels, the hairspring, and the crystal.?This previously unseen craze in regard to being a vertically integrated manufacturer has been brought about?by two different causes: for one,?it is the Swatch Group's decision to cut the amount of supplied ETA-movements to non-Swatch companies; and secon
IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Charles Darwin Watch In Bronze
One of the most anticipated new IWC Aquatimer watches for 2014 was also the first bronze watch that IWC will produce. Here it is hands-on, and it is called the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition "Expedition Charles Darwin" (ref. IW379503). Citizen Eco-Drive Scuba Fin Chronograph Watch
Just in time for heading to the beach this summer, Citizen has released a new Eco-Drive model in their Scuba Fin lineup. The new model (CA0515-02L) isn't a massive departure from the earlier Eco-Drive Scuba Fin models, but it does have some freshened looks, sporting a blue (or orange) dial that earlier iterations don't quite have. Don't forget there is a chronograph as well. That blue also carries over to the 26mm polyurethane strap. While this looks like it would be a fine enough material for hitting the water, it does give me some pause for concern. It's hard to tell from the picture
Mido Multifort Gents & Chrono Valjoux Watches For 2009
Mido has had a long history of Multifort watches over the years. I don't really get the name, and the people at Mido I spoke with don't really understand it either. Some combination of the world "multi" and "comfort?" Which means what? It provide multiple types of comfort, OK.... Anyhow, the Multifort name has now been applied to yet another watch, and one that is really cool. So cool I wish they would have given it a better name. There are are two versions of the new 2009 Multifort. the three-hand day-date Multifort Gents with an automatic ETA 2836-2 movement, and the Multifort Chrono
