Baselworld 2013: Hands On With The Arnold & Son UTTE Flying Tourbillon Watch
Just because Baselworld is almost over doesn't mean we've seen everything yet. Today we stopped by Arnold & Son and I was blown away by their UTTE, which stands for Ultra-thin Tourbillon Escapement. Part of their 2013 range, this very limited piece comes from the same manufacturer that brought us the DBS and DBG as well as the ultra-cool Time Pyramid (which Ariel covered here). Arnold & Son makes some truly stunning pieces and the UTTE definitely ranks among my favorite dress pieces of the show this year.Available in either 18k red gold or palladium, the U
Jacob & Co. Cyclone Tourbillon Watch
Boy, what do I even say about this one? Jacob & Co.'s new ultra high-end, non diamond-studded watch for 2011 is this Cyclone Tourbillon. The watch has a large escapement which is actually on the front-mounted automatic rotor. Having things on the rotor is sort of a trend this year as Cartier did something similar with their Astroregulateur watch and Blancpain has a power reserve indicator on a rotor this year on a new L-evolution piece. Though the Cyclone is the first watch ever to have an actual tourbillon spinning on a spinning rotor. The movement was created by some ex BNB guys
Casio Pathfinder PAW-2000 Watch Review
This could be the best Casio Pathfinder watch to date. A much slimmed down case and new usability features, along with new functions make this the Pathfinder watch to own. Still Casio is careful not to alienate the rest of the Pathfinder line by giving other models a few features that this model doesn't have. The last Casio Pathfinder watch I reviewed was the PAW1500, the model that came out immediately before the PAW-2000 (PAW2000). Given your needs, the PAW1500 might actually be a better suited model than the PAW2000. The PAW1500 is thicker, has a rotating navigational bezel, a moon
Casio & Surfrider Foundation To Release G-Shock X Surfrider Watch
The Casio G-Shock classic series is really the perfect surfer watch (unless you want the tide charts which are available on other Casio watches). This is because they are inexpensive, can take a beating, and often solar powered, and highly water resistant. Likely realizing this, Casio and the Surfrider Foundation teamed up and will release the Casio G-Shock X Surfrider watch in July 2009. The watch is model G5500SRF-1 and will feature special colors and a Surfrider Foundation logo on the face behind the data. A portion the money for each watch sold will go to the Surfrider Foundation.
