Christophe Claret Maestoso Watch With Detent Escapement
Quite remarkably Christophe Claret has released a watch that "merely" tells the time. Yes, it is true: while the new for 2014 Maestoso is anything but a simple watch, its only indications are the hours and minutes. That is kind of a big deal from a man who finds standard minute repeaters and tourbillons to be more or less passe. Nevertheless, the Maestoso is an extreme exercise in mechanics and with a detent-style escapement and constant force escapement, it should once again prove to be an object that captures our horological fascination. You don't hear about detent escapements too mu
Gustafsson & Sjogren Winter Nights Watch
Only 10 pieces of the Winter Night watch will be produced by the Swedish team Gustafsson & Sjogren. In a way this watch is the accumulation of everything they have been working toward. That being a totally Damascus steel case, dial, crown, and movement plate. You either love or hate the look of hand-folded and forged metal. That include the large movement plate (the rest is not in-house), and most of what you see and touch. The

And while they are interesting experimental design studies often worthy of praise, they are just unnecessary ¡§C plain and simple. While many of these incredible timepieces represent the pinnacle of design and manufacture in the watchmaking industry, t
Disney's Tick Tock Tale Short Film
Thanks to a Facebook friend I was able to learn about this new animated short film from Disney Animation called Tick Tock Tale. It is one of those shorter cartoons that will play before a feature length movie - just like Pixar (also owned by Disney does). I am excited about this for a few reasons. One, I love to see pop-culture fascination with timepieces, and two, it is actually animation by Disney again! About a decade ago I heard news that Disney vowed to only do computer animation moving forward. Which in my mind basically was a deathblow for traditional animation. Animation
