Alpha Radiomir automatic
The first is an Alpha Radiomir with a Japanese movement Miyota, probably the best movement Alpha uses, like most of their other watches use enough unreliable Chinese movements with questionable accuracy. On the other hand their cases are very well made and a steal given the ridiculously low prices. This was the perfect mechanical watch if your budget is less than $100.
Hublot Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton Watch
A surprising new member of the Hublot watch family this year will be the new Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton. It is relatively thin (especially for a Hublot), it is relatively simple (just the time), and it has a very nice looking modern skeletonized movement and dial. Overall a winner if the look suits you.Recently the Classic Fusion collection came out (covered here) and was an interesting mix of Big Bang and more traditional watch looks. I had some nice things to say about it, but this Extra-Thin Skeleton model is much more impressive. I actually like that the hands are not skel
Temption CGK205 Watch
Temption is one of my favorite boutique German watch brands, and will release this new version of their CGK collection soon. The CGK205 is the follow up to the CGK204 (based on the CGK203 - which I reviewed here). The collection houses a decorated Swiss ETA Valjoux 7751 automatic movement (a 7750 with an annual calendar, moon phase, and synced 24 hour hand), and lays out the dial info really nicely. For the CGK205 Temption refines the design a bit and ads a new metal bracelet option. I think it looks stellar. While the CGK205 doesn't offer a lot new, these are limited production watche
MB&F And Alain Silberstein HM2.2 Black Box Watch
Sometimes I wait a bit after news "breaks" to discuss a topic. That was the case with MB&F's new HM (horological machine) 2.2 watch. The timepiece is a further extension of the quite pricey luxury HM2 watch. MB&F has given the watch several version done in combos of metals (gold, titanium...), ceramic, and of course colors and styles. I've worn a few of them, and admit they are sorta cool. One of the biggest criticisms of that watch is that it was unwearable. True, the the wide box is tough to wear on your wrist, but it isn't exactly "unwearable" (like the DeWitt WX-1). From a
Interview With MB&F Watches Founder Max B¡§1sser
Previous contributor to Tom Mulraney posted a nice interview with MB&F's owner Max Busser. To be honest, most of the time I could care less about interviews with watch executives. It is a lot of "blowing smoke up their own asses." However, Max Busser is different, and the information provided in the interview is quite interesting if you care at all about the business side of the watch industry - especially when it comes to popular independents like MB&F (a brand that I cover pretty often).Read the Tom Mulraney interview of Max Busser here.
