Remembering My Dad's Watch And The Birth Of Responsibility
This article is unlike most that you'll read on aBlogtoWatch because it is inherently personal. Those who know me are aware of the fact that I am the most comfortable behind the camera, and while I regularly make a point to inject a healthy amount of opinion into our coverage of timepieces, I don't normally talk about myself. Today will be a bit different, because I am talking about the very special role that the "dad watch" can play in our lives. A dad watch is quite simply the (or a) timepiece your father wore while you were growing up. Maybe you remember it, maybe you even now own i
Sotheby?¡¥s Reveals Important Watches For May, 2014 Auction
Sponsored PostSotheby?¡¥s is offering a varied selection of wristwatches, ranging from divers to rare chronographs in their Spring sale, taking place on 14th May, 2014 in Geneva. The morning auction will kick off with an array of modern Rolex Daytonas, which offer a variety of dial styles. Cabestan Trapezium Watch
Trapezium is a word that sounds both geometric and acrobatic. Does that mean it is both difficult to compute and perform? Yes. Those adjectives more than likely define this new watch by Cabestan well. The new Trapezium is an evolved version of their famous Winch Tourbillon Vertical watch and is the brainchild of Cabestan's own (and very talented) Eric Coudray.Among other things Coudray is the guy behind the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon. He thrives in producing highly complex, highly accurate tiny machines that few other people can make. Using the same principles as the Winch Tourbi
Van Cleef & Arpels Jules Verne Les Voyages Watches
Each year Van Cleef & Arpels releases a series of limited edition watches that revolve around a certain theme. One of the themes this year was Jules Verne and the concept of discovery and exploration. To this end Van Cleef & Arpels created a few limited edition models to memorialize some of the places that Jules Verne described in his writings. There are also a few other pieces that expand on the concept of the exploration theme.Pictured here are some of the pieces that directly address the stories of Jules Verne. This is not however a depiction of the entire collection. There
JeanRichard Diverscope LPR Watch
While not a wildly complex new complication, there is a sort of smile inducing "that's cool" sentiment about the linear power reserve (LPR) indicator built into the 12 o'clock hour indicator of this new for 2011 JeanRichard Diverscope watch. I don't have a ton of information about the watch, but I did get a nice hands-on session with it thanks to JeanRichard. This is one of the coolest Diverscope models to come out. Will it come only with the black and white dial? Not sure. Set in the Diverscope's standard 43mm wide case (pretty sure it was in steel) the watch contains a
