Nomos Metro Watch
Nomos is a small German brand that is hell-bent on doing things their own way. They have a unique style derived from?the Deutscher Werkbund movement and Bauhaus aesthetic and, since their birth shortly after the fall of the Berlin wall, they have stuck to their principles and developed an identify for producing distinctive and well-made watches that rely on an almost entirely in-house manufacturing process.Last year, Nomos introduced the sport-ready Ahoi and 38 mm sizing for the Tangente, Ludwig and Orion models (I reviewed the Orion 38 here). This year, not only did Nomos show
Anstead Oceanis Watch Review: Decent Cheap Diver
Despite the fact that the timepiece industry is generally moving towards smaller, thinner, dressier wristwatches cut from precious metals, the popularity of large steel cased tool/diver watches isn?¡¥t going away.? Not by a long shot. Enjoying ongoing affection in the sub-$3000 category is a whole array of bulky mechanical timepieces designed for consumers who fancy themselves adventurers.?Although I would speculate that very few of these timepieces actually see the bottom of the Pacific, the top of the Himalayas, or jungle combat, that doesn?¡¥t stop them from being cool watches with trem
Piaget Gouverneur Watches
Say friend, are you looking for a fancy formal watch that isn't quite like anything else but won't make your friends do a double take? Well then Piaget might just have something for you. This new collection for 2012 is a sort of amalgamation watch taking into consideration design cues from many different Piaget timepieces including the Polo, Emperador, and Altiplano. It isn't round, it isn't a cushion, it isn't minimalistic, it isn't sporty. It is somewhere in between all these things and feels like Piaget's best stab at recreating the magic which is the durable design of Patek Philipp
Orient DJ02002W GMT Watch Review
This is the Orient DJ02003W, an automatic with GMT, date and power reserve complications. Classic and a bit conservative with silver dial and Roman numerals, Orient is as always, excellent value for the money. This represents a nicely made piece with one of their most modern, always in-house made movements to date.Orient's signature complication is the power reserve indicator, here seen at twelve o'clock. They are not common, making it a nice differentiator for the brand. It indicates in hours, the amount of power in the mainspring. Here you can see about 30 hours of running remains.
Cadence Oarsman Aviator Watch Review
One of the best things about what I do is the opportunity to hear from enthusiastic watch companies who want to share knowledge of their watches with me. This has resulted in my learning not only about a dizzying variety of watches, but also a variety of reasons people make watches. We tend to think of watches as satisfying a sole purpose (to tell the time), but in reality a simple wrist watch can do so much more. Of these things I am thinking of one particular metaphysical function - to evoke emotions. That's right. In fact I dare say you've never bought a watch devoid of an emotiona
