Baselworld 2013: TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 36 Flyback Chronographs
TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 36 Flyback Chronograph reference CAR2B80.FC6325It's 1963 and motor racing, as it is today, is a popular pastime all over the world and certainly here in America.? The American muscle car companies and the well known European car companies, are all battling for dominance on the track.? As they do today, these car races are also the place for experimenting with the latest engines, tires, chassis, and overall race car designs. It is in this context that Jack Heuer, the honorary chairman of the now TAG Heuer company, would make one of the boldest moves in the Swis
Raymond Weil Nabucco 2011 Watch
I've written about Raymond Weil's popular Nabucco collection at least two times prior to this hands-on experience. In fact the last time I covered the collection was with another hands-on experience going over some of the pre-2011 models here. I liked wearing the watches even though the designs in some ways felt a little bit derivative for the price. Many Raymond Weil watch designs are a bit (or a lot) derivative, but that's actually OK. They are a brand that doesn't seek to reinvent the wheel, but rather offer their own version of it.The Nabucco is their most popular sport watch, but
Cartier Rotonde Astrotourbillon Watch
If you would have asked me before I visited SIHH 2010 what brand would have impressed me the most, I don't think that Cartier would have been one of my top choices. The maker of high-end watches usually focuses on the jewelry side of watch making more than the complex mechanical side. At least it used to be that way. Part of their current and future goals is to assert themselves as a true master watch maker. As such, SIHH was filled with interesting and complex watches. Of course not all of their watches are going to be so complex, but they are going to from now on, focus on a haute h
Interesting Interview With Laurent Picciotto - Chronopassion Owner And Horology Ambassador
You may or may not know who Laurent Picciotto is, but if you look at watch marketing online at all you will at least recognize the face. In addition to owning and running the Paris based Chronopassion, he is a serious voice in the high-end watch world and very online social-networking savvy. He is also a really nice guy. I met him at SIHH, which was pretty cool. You can check out a lot of what Laurent does at his Facebook page here.Tom over at TheWatchLounge did a little interview with Laurent recently and it is actually not a bad read. I have to admit that most interviews with watch
JC/DC Gummy Me Watch
Fashion designer JC/DC (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac) once again works with Hong Kong based watch maker O.D.M (ODM) in this interesting and whimsical watch called the "Gummy Me." Done in silicone, the watch in its entirety looks like a sort of rabbit-like creature. The eyes are two small LCD screens that tell the time (hours for one eye, minutes in the other). Coming in four colors it is strange, it is fun, and it is probably not destined to find a home on most people's wrists - but some will love it.JC/DC refers to the design as an alien rabbit - something that should be
